Spectrasol Applications

Sample Type: Zeolite

|
Preparation: |
Weigh 0.2 gm sample into a pre-tared plastic bottle.
Add 2 mls water + 0.5 ml HNO3 + 8 mls HF + 2 mls HCl.
Swirl to dissolve. Add 50 mls Spectrasol Z-B reagent.
Dilute final solution weight to 100 gms with water.
|
Results: |
Comparison of ICP results (n = 3) from the Spectrasol preparation
with gravimetric results for a zeolite in-house reference material. |

Discussion: |
Neutralization of HF using the Spectrasol Z-B reagent allows for
accurate analysis of the SiO2 /Al2O3 ratio. The agreement with gravimetric results proves that HF
has been neutralized without the need for boric acid.
